Overall, the physical assembly of the product is as easy as any shade I’ve tried. The longest window you’ll see in the video below had three hooks that went to the top of the window. Each had four screws. All in all, this process took about 25 minutes from unboxing to assembly once we measured everything. Fortunately, there is some wiggle room on the product for assembly, so it doesn’t have to be perfect. Once you’re ready, you’ll hold the blinds through the brackets and screw them in place.
Addition to HomeKit
Like your traditional HomeKit products, the SmartWings HomeKit shade has a HomeKit code on the bottom of the product as well as on the motor itself. If for some reason you don’t have one on the motor, take a picture of the one on the unit before mounting it, as it will be hidden.
The only hiccup I encountered when adding to HomeKit was the Home app complaining that it was not a certified product. I clicked Add anywayand it’s been working perfectly ever since.
