After breaking away from Huawei, Honor has argued that in Europe at least, it’s Samsung’s true rival in the Android space. For the past three years, it’s offered flagship phones that are spec-for-spec equal to anything in this year’s S-series. Tucked inside is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, up from the Gen 1 found on the Magic 4, matching the silicon inside the S23, which is paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. While Honor can’t call upon the same overclocking magic found in Samsung’s handset, it says its AI-infused performance software will do a similar job. Unfortunately, I had ten minutes to spend with the handset, so I didn’t have the opportunity to do any serious stress testing. But history tells us that a handset this packed with equipment won’t be outdone.
A 5,100mAh battery powers the show here, a significantly larger battery than the 4,500 found on the 4. That’s, I suspect, why this handset weighs four grams more than the previous one, but that is a few grams between friends, huh?
