The wrestling world tragically lost Jamin Pugh (Jay Briscoe) in a car accident on Tuesday night at the age of 38.

On Wednesday, Jay’s wife Ashley updated their daughters who were also in the car, saying Gracie was undergoing back surgery and Jayleigh had serious injuries but was stable. Jay and Ashley also have a son named Gannon.

On Thursday night, friends of the Pugh family passed along the following update from Ashley about Gracie and Jayleigh.

“Currently, the girls are stable, but both have a long road of recovery ahead of them. Gracie, 12, when she originally arrived in Nanticoke [hospital], she couldn’t feel anything from the waist down. She was diagnosed with an L2 dislocation and an L3 and L4 fracture in her back with spinal cord compression. After Nanticoke stabilized her, they transferred her to another hospital and she had feeling again in her thighs, but nothing below the knee. She was taken straight into an MRI and surgery on Wednesday morning around 3am. The doctor was able to relieve the compression on the spinal cord and the surgery went as expected. When you have spinal cord trauma, it’s a waiting game. With the swelling and the trauma, it has to wait. She still feels her thighs, but still no movement. Gracie felt tingling in her feet today. Her progress will be on a daily basis for the next few months. She is badly hurt, but at this time, no other injuries have been diagnosed.

“Jayleigh was diagnosed with an open fracture of the tibia and fibula in Nanticoke where she had surgery. They fitted her with an external fixator and sent her back to the hospital. She was diagnosed with a C7 fracture in her neck and was placed in a neck brace, which she will wear for six weeks. She also has an L3 and L4 fracture in her back, which can be treated with a back brace for about 12 weeks. She has a fracture of her right clavicle due to her seat belt, as well as a broken rib on the right side. She has a small left pneumothorax, which is the air between the lung and the chest wall, not inside the lung. They’re just monitoring that because it’s not big enough for intervention at this point, which is a blessing. Today she was diagnosed with a perforated intestine with free fluid in her abdomen, she had some internal bleeding in her stomach area. They knew about it and were watching and today they were able to locate it and find out where it was . That surgery was amazing, that got her there and I controlled the bleeding and got her back on her feet. She went to the OR for this today. They did an intestinal resection, I mean, they removed a little bit, nothing that is a long-term effect. While she was downstairs, the orthopedist decided to do another wash of her leg and some manipulation of the bones for better alignment. She still has the external fixator in place and they have placed an NG tube in her nose to decompress her stomach. They’ll take it out tomorrow and that will allow her to eat.”

It was stated that the two girls are in a lot of pain and were hoping for a good night’s sleep. Family friends have asked for continued prayers for the Pugh family. Ashley thanked everyone who prayed, supported, donated or helped in any way.

A donation page was set up on Thursday morning and fans can donate by clicking here.

Fightful continues to send our love, support and prayers to the Pugh family.
