The battle of America’s Got Talent: All-Stars’ brightest stars continues.
The top performers from the international “Got Talent” franchise remain in NBC’s supercompetition (Mondays, 8 EST/PST) with their eyes on the finals. Among the show’s judges – Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel – only Cowell had the skill to hit the golden buzzer on Monday, securing a spot in the finals. (Second place in the finals would be decided by a voting panel of “superfans”, while eight other candidates would face elimination once again.)

Cowell surprises with his selection of Golden Buzzer
Mike E. Winfield, comedian from Season 17 of “AGT,” returned to make the judges laugh. He joked about his stepson, whom he calls “stepdad” due to their similar ages, staying out late. “I went around the corner to pick him up (from a party), came home three hours later,” Winfield said. His wife said, “‘Michael, have you been drinking?’ I’m like, ‘We have some of the same friends. Everyone was there. He’s still there. I’ll get him again.’
“You are that ray of sunshine and I love you,” praised Klum. “You are hilarious.”
Cowell predicted that if Winfield had performed the night’s routine earlier, “it might have been a completely different story, because you came back funnier, more confident. I can even see it in your eyes how much it means to you now.”
“It means everything,” said Winfield. “This is what I’ve always wanted. I wanted ‘AGT’. I’ve been doing this for 20 years, and you go unnoticed, then you finally get a platform. There is no time to take off or brake. I’m here to play.”
Cowell, sensing the audience’s adoration of stand-up, gave him the Golden Buzzer. “You know what, Mike? I love, love, love people who compete,” Cowell said, “and I didn’t expect to do this, but I will.”

Saxophonist Avery Dixon hits all the right notes
Saxophonist Avery Dixon, a contestant on Season 17 of “AGT” who won a Golden Buzzer from host Terry Crews at the time, returned on Monday.
The young musician, who took up the saxophone after being bullied over his voice, said he was in competition for his mother: “I’m here to get her that house and win it all.”
Dixon gave himself a fighting chance when he and his band performed an upbeat version of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” that brought a dancing Klum to her feet.
“That’s how it’s done!” she said, smiling.
Mandel praised Dixon’s evolution. “You stepped up,” Mandel said. “You went from an amazing talent to an amazing show. You are a show!”

Bir Khalsa is an almost unwatchable act for Cowell
Bir Khalsa, a group performing dangerous stunts that first appeared in Season 14, showed they were “All-Stars” ready with a frightening act that Cowell found difficult to watch.
For a moment, a blindfolded member of the four-person group took a sword and cut coconuts resting on another member’s neck. “I can not stand!” said an anxious Crews.
For another trick, the blindfolded member smashed coconuts and watermelons, outlining his collaborator’s body with a sledgehammer. “I can’t watch,” said Mandel, his hands nervously placed on his head.

As the sledgehammer came close to hitting a watermelon on the group member’s head, Cowell covered his eyes. After a swing, Cowell, who had walked away from the stage, asked, “Is he alive?”
For the group’s final stunt, the blindfolded man sliced an apple between two partners’ heads with a chainsaw.
“This is by far the craziest thing I’ve ever seen,” Mandel said.
“Ever!” Kulum agreed. “It was exhausting to watch! You guys are crazy crazy, and it was wow – it was so much fun. It was so good. I couldn’t look away.”
Cowell said the group would have their vote for the finals.
Who did the superfans select?
Crews, building on the suspense of the panel’s selection, revealed their Top 3 for the finals. (Keep in mind that they can only select one act to advance.)
As much as Bir Khalsa impressed the judges, the group was nowhere to be seen. Teams revealed Dixon; Keren Montero, winning singer of “Dominicana’s Got Talent” in 2021; and mind-reader Peter Antoniou from season 16 of “AGT”, who Cowell said lacks charisma, were the panel’s top picks.
But it was Dixon who advanced the fan votes to the next round.
