After nearly three years of marriage, Brittany Snow asked for a divorce from her husband Tyler Stanaland.

Snow cites irreconcilable differences for divorce

In Snow’s divorce petition obtained by The Blast, she is citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and claims that her split date has yet to be determined. Snow and her ex Stanaland have a prenuptial agreement to make possible divorce proceedings straight forward. She is also requesting that she and Stanaland pay their own legal fees.

The Blast originally reported the couple’s split in September after the “Pitch Perfect” star announced it on her Instagram account.

In the Instagram post, Snow wrote, “After time and consideration, Tyler and I have made the difficult decision to part ways. This decision was made with love and mutual respect. We realize that we need to take some time and ensure that each of us is living our most fulfilling and authentic lives. We started this journey as best friends and our relationship will continue to be a priority not only for us but for our dog Charlie. We sincerely appreciate your support and ask for privacy as we navigate this new chapter.”

What caused the couple to divorce?

Stanaland’s stint on “Selling the OC” may have caused friction between the couple. A source told Page Six that Snow did not approve of Stanaland’s appearance on the show. Stanaland comes from a lineage of real estate agents as well as a lineage of Laguna Beach natives, and this solidified his work as a realtor for The Oppenheim Group – the real estate agency made famous by the “Selling Sunset” show. Stanaland was also a professional surfer, the son of parents who dated him before him in the surfing world.

The Blast also previously reported that Stanaland was drinking with his reality TV co-stars Alex Hall and Polly Brindle immediately after he and Snow announced their split. According to an eyewitness source from E! News, he didn’t seem upset and was enjoying the single life.

The couple originally met in 2018 through social media and mutual friends. According to People, their friends knew they would be a good fit. He sent her a direct message on Instagram and they shared tacos and tequila on their first date. At the time, Stanaland claims they were smitten with each other and got engaged in 2019.

Stanaland reflects on health struggles

Amidst the breakup and divorce news, Stanaland also recently posted about her health issues in an Instagram post. He reflected on his journey to being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2012 and the surgeries that saved his life.

Stanaland wrote: “A reminder that health is wealth. And most of all, a reminder to do the things that make you feel alive with the people you love, as long as humanly possible.”

“I always said that getting sick was the best worst thing that ever happened to me because it put life in perspective in a way that only something like this could,” Stanaland wrote.

He concluded: “But finding comfort in the uncomfortable is where all the magic happens. Sometimes life throws you a curveball and slows you down. And sometimes that’s exactly what you need and where the best things happen.”
