A source close to the family told The US Sun exclusively: “It’s not the end of Sister Wives. It’s not going anywhere.”
“They have a multi-year contract,” the source claimed, “so they’ll have to figure something out. The story isn’t over.”
The season 17 premiere had its highest-rated debut in six years. According to Nielsen data, the first episode on Sept. 11 averaged 2.2 million viewers and scored a 1.42 rating among females aged 18-49.
In a recently released clip for Part 1 of the One on One special, Meri, 51, revealed that Kody “made the decision” to split with her.

In another teaser that aired Sunday night, Kody shared, “I’m separated from Janelle.”
He and Christine previously announced their separation in November 2021. Robyn, 44, is the last wife standing.
The source added, “They are declaring the split to maintain the show’s history and keep people interested.”
The storyline that is teased will continue in another season, according to the source.

“Kody will find a way to keep the show going. I’m still not sure what direction he’s going to go,” the source said.
“He will either have to go back to polygamy and start over and really commit, or he will have a show about how he rebuilds his life after polygamy with his family torn apart.”
‘Spin-off CONVERSATIONS’
A source previously told The US Sun that the 53-year-old family patriarch plans to bring in “new wives”.
“Kody is so passionate about the polygamy lifestyle that I predict he will bring in more wives,” the source said at the time.
“It’s starting to look like that could happen soon. Right now your contract is up to living the lifestyle.”
The insider added that plans for the show are “up in the air” but there are talks of “spin-offs”.
The US Sun previously reported that Christine and Janelle, for example, are “returning to their own show” and that it would be something like “Life After Polygamy.”
Christine confirmed that filming is taking place when she posted it to Instagram in November.
“Finally filming at my house in Salt Lake!! So excited!” she captioned a selfie.
FAMILY DESTROYED
As the family divulges details of their strained relationships week after week, there are “new beginnings” playing out in real time.
Christine, 50, and Janelle, 53, are on a health journey together and “building a financial empire together,” a source tells The US Sun.
And Janelle, who is currently “figuring out” her next move, is “thinking about permanently moving closer to Christine.”
Meri, on the other hand, is focused on her LulaRoe business and planning more Real Life Retreats – the next one is in February.
Wives have been posting about how happy they are with the focus on themselves and their children.
Meanwhile, Kody, according to the source, is having a hard time dealing with the breakups.
“It’s actually very painful for Kody and very sad,” a source told The US Sun. “Right now Kody is very angry with women and very hurt.”

“He’s tearing his family apart with his rage. He’s kind of a loose cannon right now,” they added.
The drama continues on Sister Wives: One on One Part 1, which airs Sunday, December 18 at 10 pm ET on TLC.
