Could Brooke/Taylor fall in love with a new Bold & Beautiful romance?

I hope Stephanie gets the show in the afterlife because this is must-see TV.

After the December 28, The bold and the beautiful, our jaws ache with the revelation that Bill was seeing Sheila. (More on that shock here.) But when the pain subsided, we reconsidered. other important development, much quieter, but in the long run perhaps more significant: Brooke and Taylor’s newfound closeness.

It means what we Think Does?

First, the enemies-turned-friends laughed about what her mother-in-law Stephanie’s reaction would be when Brooke declared that she didn’t need a man. Then there was Brooke and Taylor’s embrace, and their shared observation that they never imagined how good it would be to be in each other’s arms. When the scene ended, they looked into each other’s eyes in a way that, if it were any other pair, we’d be wondering if they would kiss.

Then it hit us: Why could not do they kiss? Why couldn’t Brooke and Taylor discover later in life, as many people do, that they are both same-sex and opposite-sex attracted? or the same rather than of the opposite sex? Back when the characters would be growing up, LGBTQ+ people remained hidden in the closet. So it may never have occurred to Brooke and Taylor that they had an option for men, let alone one they actually preferred.

A bold move, at least for this show.

if the soap did deciding to turn Brooke and Taylor from enemies to friends and ultimately lovers, the impact would be… gosh, immeasurable. For starters, Ridge’s head would explode. He wouldn’t know what to do with himself if he didn’t have his ex-boyfriends waiting in the wings to forgive his latest misstep. Also, imagine what a formidable team Brooke and Taylor would make. Yes, they would fight over their children, but when they didn’t fight, they could steer Forrester Creations in new, more inclusive directions. (How a drama about the fashion industry never had a single gay designer, we’ll never understand!)

Stick with the times, man!

What’s more, introducing into the mix a same-sex couple — and one consisting of two beloved characters — would lessen the long-held impression that the show is operating in the yellowed pages of a 1950s manual. bold and beautifulI act like parents must stay together to raise a happy, healthy child and that everyone should be married all the time or, wow, they might as well crawl under a rock.

A Brooke/Taylor duo could change this perception of the show as being painfully old-fashioned. Whenever it’s flirted with a modern twist – the revelation that Maya was transgender (before she was banished to Nowheresville), Eric’s suggestion that Quinn satisfy her sexual needs outside of her bedroom (before the story was swapped for more by Donna and her honey bear) – headlines followed. Attention was given.

Yes, there is a segment of the public that just wants to lather, rinse and repeat the same old triangles and psychopaths. But if the soap hopes to attract new viewers, it will have to try some new things, and a Brooke/Taylor duo may just be the first of many.

While we wait to see if the show will “get there,” review where it’s been with a photo gallery full of highlights from Brooke and Taylor’s decades as rivals.
