Bay Area punk/thrash metal crossover band members BLEEDING escaped serious injury after being hit by a “reckless driver” early Saturday morning in San Francisco.

“We just came down from Sacramento to play an after-party,” BLEEDING guitar player Jon Orc said ABC San Francisco affiliate KGO. “We were on our way home. As we pulled off the highway, this guy was going about 60 to 80 miles an hour. And he hit us really hard. And he dragged us.”

In a post on social media, BLEEDING explained that orc and guitarist/vocalist Toby Bona Pak had just left the drummer Ron Roussel when they were hit. bona pak was taken to the emergency room with minor injuries, treated and released.

“He hit the right side of our bus and kept hitting the accelerator and eventually [tried] get away,” the band wrote. “Fortunately, there was a cop in the next block who pulled over and arrested the driver.

“Our bus is heavily damaged and we are not sure how much damage has been done to our equipment at this time. toby had to go to the emergency room and luckily he didn’t have any serious injuries. He is now with his family and recovering. jon and his wife Ms He had no injuries, just pain from the collision.

“We are grateful that none of us are injured and may have time to rest and recover from this event. Let’s start picking up the pieces and figuring out what our next steps are after the holidays.”

BLEEDING created a GoFundMe page to raise money to buy a new bus – which can cost upwards of $20,000 – as well as the thousands of dollars needed to replace damaged equipment.

According to ESP Guitars, BLEEDING started touring guerilla-style in 2017, outfitting a mini tour bus with gear and merchandising items, then driving to various events to get his sound out to people, whether they were expecting it or not. The band will usually stop where it looks like it will have a receptive audience – mostly bars, clubs and arenas where other metal bands were playing – and start performing when the shows are over and people start to trickle into the parking lots or straight out onto the street. At one of these shows last April, BLEEDING stopped his bus outside the tour stop in San Diego, California, “The Bay Strikes Back” with TESTAMENT🇧🇷 EXODUS and ANGEL OF DEATH🇧🇷 EXODUS guitar player Gary Holt noticed and posted a video of the band on his Instagram that night, saying: “BLEEDING are raging in the streets of San Diego! Roll up in the minibus, start killing him right next to our bus, just the coolest thing ever, security be damned!”

Last night (12/24/22) around 1:30am. After dropping off Ron, our drummer, at his studio. We were hit by a reckless driver who was fleeing another crime scene. He hit the right side of our bus and kept stepping on the gas and eventually tried to get away. Luckily, there was a cop on the next block who stopped and arrested the driver.

Our bus is totaled and we are not sure how much damage was done to our equipment at this time. Toby had to go to the ER and luckily he didn’t have any serious injuries. He is now with his family and recovering. Jon and his wife Missy had no injuries but only pain from the collision. We are grateful that none of us were injured and were able to rest and recover from this event. Let’s start putting the pieces together and figure out what our next moves are after the holidays.
